Rob Kanniard, a 160-pound state finalist for Wall this past season, verbally committed to Rutgers on Tuesday night, continuing the Scarlet Knights' recent momentum following a historic showing at the NCAA Championships.
Kanniard, a junior, is Intermat's 20th-ranked 160-pounder nationally and is FloWrestling's No. 27-ranked Class of 2019 recruit. Kanniard is Rutgers' first commit in the class.
Kanniard went 45-1 as a junior, falling to Bergen Catholic's three-time champion Shane Griffith in the state final. He took fourth place at 152 pounds as a sophomore in 2017 and was a Fargo Cadet freestyle champion at 160 pounds last summer.
