Here comes another big BOOM!
Rutgers Wrestling will welcome in Sammy Alvarez of St. Joseph Regional in Montvale this coming Fall in Piscataway.
Alvarez, who originally committed to NC State in January of 2018, was ranked No. 34 on Flo Wrestling’s Big Board for 2019. He also finished No. 3 in the country at 126 pounds.
In light of Gerard Angelo announcing his plans to transfer to Rutgers after originally being in the Cornell Class of 2018, Alvarez is joining a stacked lightweight room at Rutgers. Shane Metzler was the starter this past season but will now have competition at 125 pounds between him, redshirt freshman Nico Aguilar, and now Alvarez.
