PISCATAWAY – With the way the Rutgers women’s soccer team plays defense, a one-goal lead feels comfortable and a two-goal lead feels insurmountable.
Anything more than that feels almost gratuitous, though not worth giving back.
No. 2 seed Rutgers scored twice in each half Sunday and dominated Connecticut, 4-0, in a NCAA Tournament Sweet 16 matchup at Yurcak Field.
Rutgers is headed to the Elite Eight for the first time in program history.
“We challenged the kids from day one to get better every day and they were good today,” coach Mike O’Neill said. “Man, were they good.
