Rutgers women’s lacrosse defeats Maryland for first time in program history

It was an historic weekend for the Rutgers women’s lacrosse team. After beating no. 13 Penn State for the first time in program history, the Scarlet Knights upended no. 11 Maryland on Sunday for the first time ever as well.

After trailing 4-2 midway through the first half, Rutgers went on a 6-0 scoring run to head into the break with a commanding lead. It was a total team effort as all six goals were scored by different players.

Maryland fought back to tie it at 9-9 in the second half, but RU put together a game changing 7-0 run behind two goals apiece from Taralyn Naslonski, Cassidy Spilis and Ashley Moynahan.
