This was supposed to be the goodbye to FCS games on Rutgers schedule.
But Big Ten commissioner Jim Delany reversed course over the summer, and now the conference's teams are allowed to schedule a FCS opponent every other year in accordance with having only four home games on the league schedule. For Rutgers, that means every even-numbered year after 2018 (schedule already set).
You won't hear any complaints coming from Rutgers coach Chris Ash.
In 14 games over the last two seasons, Rutgers has scored just 10 points (one field goal, one touchdown) on its opening drives compared to 10 punts.
