The last thing that a football coach wants to do is answer questions about his team's effort.
But Rutgers coach Chris Ash was in that position after a stunning 41-0 loss to Indiana took some of the luster off an improved season with three Big Ten wins.
"You can always tell on film," Ash said when asked if his team gave an effort against Indiana. "This is the way I operate: When we win games, assistant coaches and players did a great job. When we lose games, I did a bad job and that's it.
