Maryland and Rutgers will always be compared against the other. The two schools joined the Big Ten at the same time, are geographically close with overlapping recruiting bases in some areas and have experienced early struggles since becoming part of the conference.
The 2018 season will be the fifth Big Ten season for the schools, and will also see the programs complete an initial tour around the league. By the end of this fall, Maryland and Rutgers will have played every other Big Ten team at least once in conference play.
