PISCATAWAY -- Chris Ash doesn't compare apples to oranges.
Or Scarlet Knights to Terrapins or Boilermakers.
"I'm not into comparisons," the Rutgers coach said. "I think I was asked about Purdue before, about comparing their situation to ours. I don't know what everyone else's situation is. I'm not there. I've never been there.
"I know what ours is. I'm into preparing our football team, coaching our guys, developing our guys, recruiting to our university, our program. Everybody's situation is different."
But the stretch of highway connecting Rutgers (3-5, 2-3) to Maryland (4-4, 2-3) might as well be a yardstick in this case, because fans are all too happy to draw comparisons between the fourth-year Big Ten members and their second-year coaches.
