Rutgers vs. Indiana: Why the weather conditions could favor the Scarlet Knights

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- If you're wondering the game-plan that Rutgers will employ Saturday against Indiana, here's our best guess:

It will feature a heavy dose of running plays.

The Scarlet Knights have run the ball 70.4 percent of the time over the last five games, and the formula worked in Big Ten wins over Illinois, Purdue and Maryland last month.

Indiana ranks ninth in the 14-team Big Ten in rush defense, and has allowed four Big Ten teams to rush for 170 or more yards this season.

So Rutgers (4-6, 3-4 Big Ten) is going to run the ball when it meets the Hoosiers (4-6, 1-6) in a game in which the loser will be eliminated from bowl contention.
