PISCATAWAY — Rutgers coach Chris Ash spent the bye week emphasizing the need for his team to win the turnover battle.
The Scarlet Knights accomplished that goal Saturday versus Indiana, but apparently forgot the rest of their defensive keys.
Despite forcing four turnovers — including a forced fumble that resulted in Darnell Davis' 75-yard scoring return — Rutgers squandered what might've been its best (and perhaps last) chance to win a Big Ten game this season.
Indiana (5-4, 3-3 Big Ten) avenged two straight losses at the hands of Rutgers (2-7, 0-6) by surviving a game full of miscues, rallying from an 11-point deficit midway through the third quarter to prevail 33-27 before an announced crowd of 37,345 at High Point Solutions Stadium.
