PISCATAWAY — It was just the second game of the Steve Pikiell era and it came against a rebuilding Drexel team. But as a program in transition itself, Rutgers has to be happy with how it looked on Sunday evening.
Utilizing its size advantage afforded by the presence of 7-foot center C.J. Gettys and strong scoring from Nigel Johnson and Jonathan Laurent, the Scarlet Knights dominated in the paint en route to a 87-66 victory over the Dragons at the Rutgers Athletic Center.
Play was sloppy in the early going with both teams struggling from the field.
