EAST LANSING, Mich. -- Rutgers' No. 7-ranked Richie Lewis will wrestle for third place at 165 pounds in the 2018 Big Ten Championships after knocking off No. 2 Alex Marinelli of Iowa, 7-6, in the consolation semifinal round Sunday at Michigan State's Breslin Center.
Lewis will face Wisconsin's No. 11 Evan Wick in the consolation final. Lewis beat Wick, 6-4, on Saturday in the championship quarterfinals and owns two victories over Wick this season.
Lewis took Marinelli down twice, including the winning takedown with seconds left. After the bout, Lewis pointed at Iowa coach Tom Brands and appeared to say something to him; Rutgers was deducted a team point for unsportsmanlike conduct after the bout.
