Rutgers Report: Standout at the Blackout

Last Saturday evening, the Rutgers Scarlet Knights faced the No. 4 team in the country, the Michigan State Spartans. It was their first night game of the season, broadcast nationally on the Big Ten Network (BTN), and was their annual “Blackout” game, where they encourage fans to wear black to the game.

By no means was Rutgers the favorite to win this game. The betting line was between 13 and 14 points favoring the Spartans, and Rutgers was facing MSU with the Scarlet Knights head coach serving the last of his three game suspension. Despite all the odds, and all the expectations, Rutgers came roaring out of the tunnel — and still lost.
