As the countless hours went by and Day 3 of the MLB Draft rolled on Saturday afternoon, Howie Brey fell asleep listening to the Internet audio feed of the pick-by-pick announcements.
The jolt that ended his nap was accompanied by some of the biggest news of his life.
“My brother Kyle was behind me when they said, ‘Brey, Howie for the Houston Astros,’ and he got real excited and he screamed,” Brey said. “I didn’t hear it right away because I was dozing off, but they repeated it, and my mom got so excited. It was a cool process to be around.
