Tuesday, Pope John (Sparta, N.J.) rising junior defensive tackle Ireland Burke received his third Power 5 offer from Rutgers and sixth overall, following a strong start to camp season. And his mother is elated he now has the opportunity to stay close by her side.
"It feels good," the 6-3, 280-pound Burke told NJ.com. "My mom is happy because I can play close to home."
A Queens native, Burke transferred to Pope John from Grand Street following the 2016 season, and has since seen his recruitment take off. Hence, he now has a number of options.
