For only the second time since the Homer Hazel Award for Rutgers football's Most Valuable Player was created in 1953, two teammates are sharing the honor.
Redshirt seniors Gus Edwards and Sebastian Joseph were named co-MVPs at Friday night's awards banquet for seniors. The other time was in 1972.
Edwards and Joseph have very different backgrounds.
While Edwards led the team with 713 rushing yards, 816 all-purpose yards and seven total touchdowns as the starting running back in his one season as a graduate transfer from Miami, Joseph spent five years at Rutgers and was a three-year starter who played in 49 straight games to end his career.
