Finally a bit of good news for the Rutgers men's basketball program! Corey Sanders was named the Big Ten Freshman of the week for his performance against Fairleigh Dickinson last Wednesday. Sanders scored 21 points, including shooting 4-8 from three-point range and adding 5 rebounds and 2 assists. He put Rutgers on his back in the comeback win. It was the first conference honor of his Rutgers career.
Sanders is currently leading all Big Ten freshman in scoring (13.5 ppg) and steals (1.5 spg). He is also second for freshman with assists (3.5 apg). Sanders leads Rutgers in minutes per game, scoring, assists, and steals.
