PISCATAWAY -- Under the watch of coach Chris Ash, Rutgers football increased its investment in strength and conditioning and hired the athletic department's first full-time nutritionist.
It did not discover a cure-all for injuries.
Rutgers had eight starters and two key backups miss games with injuries last season and lost three key players to torn ACLs since March. It's been a tough stretch, but nothing that prompted Ash to rethink his way of doing things.
"Our trainers keep a running book on the type of injuries, when they occurred and how they occurred, and try to find themes," Ash said when asked by NJ Advance Media about last season.
