Rutgers hoops torches Fairleigh Dickinson from deep, rolls to season-opening win

Will Rutgers' offense be better this season?

One number on the opening night stat sheet certainly gives hope.

The Scarlet Knights drilled a dozen 3-pointers en route to a 88-55 triumph over Fairleigh Dickinson on Friday night at the RAC.

Rutgers has struggled to score points in its first two seasons under head coach Steve Pikiell, and had never finished a game with more than nine 3-pointers under him prior to this game. The 12 hits from range are the most for the Scarlet Knights since 2013.

Peter Kiss scored a team-high 17 points in his Rutgers debut.
