As the Detroit Lions close in on their first division title since 1993, fullback Michael Burton is the perfect person to remind the locker room to take it one game at a time.
Burton had the "1-0" mentality drilled into his head at Rutgers by then-coach Kyle Flood, and he hasn't lost sight of it two years into his NFL career. Not even with the looming potential distraction of a homecoming game.
The Lions visit the Giants at 1 p.m. Sunday at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford.
"All I really know is that my immediate family is going," Burton told NJ Advance Media by phone, "and that's no different than if they were to go to another away game or home game here in Detroit.
