Rutgers fans might've taken for granted the contributions of Kyle Federico, who converted at a 69.7 percent clip on his field goals as the team's primary placekicker over the last four seasons. David Bonagura (pictured), a fourth-year junior walk-on from Ramapo, improved as spring camp went along and enters the summer with a lead over Jared Smolar, a freshman from Valparaiso, Ind., who was ranked as the nation's seventh-best kicker by kicking guru Chris Sailer.
Chris Ash certainly won't have it easy in his first training camp as Rutgers football head coach. There are plenty of positions to sort out, including quarterback, running back and virtually two of the three levels of his defense.
