PISCATWAY -- The Birthplace of College Football will kick off its 150th anniversary season by playing the fourth-oldest program in the sport's history.
Rutgers completed its 2019 schedule Wednesday by adding a non-conference home game for Aug. 31, 2019 against Massachusetts. It means that Rutgers will not have a game on Nov. 9, the Saturday after the anniversary date of the first college football game.
Rutgers defeated Princeton, 6-4, on Nov. 6, 1869 in what is now the parking lot outside College Avenue Gym in New Brunswick, and New Jersey football fans had hoped for a rematch to commemorate history.
