The Rutgers football program's streak among the top 10 percent teams in the country in Academic Percent Rate (APR) is over.
Rutgers had ranked in the top 10 percent for eight straight years, which was the longest continuous streak for any Division 1-A state university in the country. The NCAA released the Public Recognition Awards on Wednesday for teams that ranked in the top 10 percent in their sport.
The APR provides a real-time look at a team's academic success each semester by tracking the academic progress of each student-athlete. The APR includes eligibility, retention and graduation in the calculation and provides a clear picture of the academic culture in each sport.
