Rutgers football alums feel welcomed by Chris Ash's open-door policy

Kevin Malast didn't know what to expect when Chris Ash was named Rutgers' head coach in December. Malast played linebacker at Rutgers for Greg Schiano from 2005-08 and remained around the program when Kyle Flood, an assistant under Schiano, took over as head coach in 2012.

But with Ash coming from Ohio State with no ties to Rutgers, Malast didn't know if the open-door policy for alums would remain. Those concerns were assuaged when Ash met with Malast and a handful of former Scarlet Knights at a gathering last week.
