Rutgers 'experimenting' with Johnathan Lewis at tight end; here's why change may stick

Johnathan Lewis warmed up before the game as a quarterback.

He then played during it as a tight end.

Rutgers fans should get used to that, particularly the latter.

The sophomore quarterback, at one point New Jersey's top-rated passer out of St. Peter's Prep, took snaps at tight end during the Scarlet Knights' 38-17 loss to Illinois on Saturday at HighPoint.com Stadium in Piscataway. Head coach Chris Ash wasn't willing to commit to the transition as a permanent move, but there are signs it eventually will be.

"Still experimenting," Ash said after the game.
