Rutgers earns its 9th commitment from St. Peter's Prep 3-star safety Zamir Mickens

Momentum is a crazy thing, and Rutgers appears to have seized it, earning its seventh commitment over the last 11 days, when St. Peter's Prep (Jersey City, N.J.) rising senior Zamir Mickens committed to head coach Chris Ash, Saturday.

A 6-1, 180-pound three-star recruit, Mickens picked Rutgers over an offer from Liberty, but was receiving looks from a number of FBS schools.

The No. 49 recruit in the NJ.com Top 50, Mickens accumulated 79 tackles, seven pass break-ups, two INTs, tow fumble recoveries and a forced fumble. He also rushed for 261 yards, had 25 receiving yards and returned one of his picks for a TD, for an 8-4 that lost to Paramus Catholic, 33-28, in the Non-public Group 4 championship game.
