Rutgers' Dorian Miller on game-killing penalty: 'A mistake that can't happen'

PISCATAWAY -- Thanks to a field goal block with 94 seconds remaining, Rutgers had new life.

Taking over at their 14-yard line, the Scarlet Knights marched 61 yards in eight plays and faced a third-and-8 play from the Eastern Michigan 25-yard line.

Following a timeout, Kyle Bolin's pass fell incomplete to Bo Melton and, for a brief second, it seemed likely that Rutgers would attempt a 42-yard field goal to tie the game in the final seconds.

But the officials threw a flag in the backfield, citing left guard Dorian Miller for an illegal-use-of-the-hands penalty that pushed the Scarlet Knights to the 40.
