Rutgers defensive coordinator Jay Niemann on Saquan Hampton: 'I thought he played fantastic'

PISCATAWAY -- At Nottingham High School, Saquan Hampton was the equivalent to what Janarion Grant is today, playing multiple positions and scoring touchdowns as a wide receiver, punt returner, kick returner, and recording a pick-6 as a defensive back

Now, Rutgers' redshirt junior is settled in at safety and is one of the standouts on what looks to be a much-improved Scarlet Knights defense.

A 6-1, 207-pound defensive back from Hamilton, Mercer County, Hampton recorded four tackles and two pass breakups in the 30-14 setback to Washington in the opener last Friday.
