PISCATAWAY, N.J. (AP) Corey Sanders scored 15 points in his long-awaited debut to lead Rutgers past Howard 82-70 on Sunday.
The highly-touted recruit sat out the season opener, serving a one-game, self-imposed penalty from Rutgers (2-0) and accepted by the NCAA for participation in a non-sanctioned basketball event over the summer.
Deshawn Freeman scored 17 points on 7-of-11 shooting and had seven rebounds for Rutgers while D.J. Foreman scored 13 points with eight rebounds. After his first career double-double on Friday against Rutgers-Newark, Mike Williams had six points and two rebounds for the Scarlet Knights.
