Rutgers' Chris Ash explains curious decision to play Robert Martin on special teams, not at RB

PISCATAWAY -- In assessing the play of Rutgers' offense in a loss to Indiana, coach Chris Ash started with a rushing attack that gained just 2.7 yards per carry.

"I thought we would run the ball a little bit better than we did," Ash said, "and we struggled with that. It's a combination of just some things up front, and some things Indiana was pressuring a lot and we missed some things and didn't block the run game the way we needed to."

What Ash didn't mention as a factor was the absence of leading rusher Robert Martin, who curiously played on special teams but did not get a touch on offense.
