Rutgers' Chris Ash and Eastern Michigan's Chris Creighton haven't crossed paths much in their respective coaching careers. But the two head coaches for the Saturday's matchup between Rutgers and Eastern Michigan are linked by Drake University.
Ash was a two-time letter winner as a defensive back at Drake, earning his undergraduate degree from the Des Moines-based university in 1996. He began his coaching career as a defensive graduate assistant at his alma mater the following year, and served as defensive coordinator in 1998 and ’99 before leaving for Iowa State.
Creighton was the head coach at Drake from 2008 through the 2013 season, posting winning records in all six years and compiling a 42-22 record overall.
