It's the middle of the summer, but college basketball recruiting is heating up. July’s first live evaluation period begins at 5 p.m. today and runs through Sunday at 5 p.m. For fifteen days this month, college basketball coaches will be scouring the country, watching countless games searching for the future of their programs. It is a big month for Rutgers head coach Steve Pikiell and his staff, as they are now on a level playing field in recruiting players from the class of 2017 and beyond, after starting so far behind in the past recruiting cycle.
With the incoming class of Candido Sa, Issa Thiam, and Matt Bullock officially on campus, it appears the staff will have just 10 scholarship players on next season's roster.
