The Rutgers baseball community received good news when the team’s former closer Max Herrmann reached an agreement to join the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim’s system. The redshirt senior was a graduate student in the School of Management and Labor Relations. He was named Academic All-Big Ten.
On the field, the southpaw Herrmann led the team with a 3.31 ERA while notching six saves, also pacing the ballclub. The team captain’s 2017 highlight came against No. 17 Michigan with no earned runs allowed in 3 and a third innings out of the pen. Another key moment was when he came on in the 8th to preserve a one-run Big Ten victory over Purdue.
