It's a waiting game for Anthony Ashnault.
"I want another chance to win a national title. That's the biggest thing for me," the three-time Rutgers All-American said Friday after announcing he will not wrestle this season and is pursuing a sixth year of eligibility. "I just want one more shot at it. It would really suck not to have that."
That may be the case, but the South Plainfield High product can only dwell on it so much. Rutgers has sent all the necessary paperwork and documentation to the NCAA. Everyone involved - Ashnault and his family, head coach Scott Goodale, Rutgers' compliance staff - feels confident Ashnault has a sound case after offseason knee and shoulder surgeries have kept him off the mat for his redshirt senior year.
