Rutgers couldn't avoid the Big Ten basement, or its night shift.
The Scarlet Knights finished last in the conference for the fourth straight season Friday when Iowa closed the league's regular season slate with a 77-70 win at Northwestern. The Hawkeyes' victory came hours after Rutgers blew a chance to secure a higher finish in the standings with a 75-62 home loss to Illinois at the Rutgers Athletics Center in Piscataway.
Rutgers will be the 14-seed in the Big Ten Tournament, which begins Wednesday at Madison Square Garden. The Scarlet Knights will face 11-seed Minnesota in the second of two first-round games.
