Ahmir Mitchell’s career is over before it ever truly began at Rutgers. Ryan Dunleavy of NJ Advance Media reported this evening that Mitchell has been dismissed from the team per a source.
The former 4-star recruit and Michigan transfer was slated to start at receiver this season before tearing his ACL during spring practice. He was said to be ahead of schedule in his recovery, as head coach Chris Ash said over the summer that Mitchell could return by mid-season. Unfortunately, Mitchell will never suit up in scarlet on Saturdays.
There was no reason given for the dismissal.
