CHAMPAIGN, Ill. -- Unlike last time these teams met, Giovanni Rescigno won't be coming off the bench in the second half today to try to rally Rutgers against Illinois.
He's starting instead.
Multiple sources told NJ Advance Media that Rescigno is coach Chris Ash's pick after a three-way battle dragged out two weeks. Ash decided to make a switch from transfer Kyle Bolin after he started the first five games of the season.
It will be the sixth career start for Rescigno, who went 0-5 as Rutgers finished last season on a nine-game losing streak.
