Ohio State's J.T. Barrett announces return for 2017, and that's bad news for Rutgers

It was following a Rutgers football coaches news conference in mid-October when a reporter noted that Ohio State quarterback J.T. Barrett had another year of eligibility.

"Wow. Good for them,'' a Rutgers assistant coach said quizzically.

And bad for the Scarlet Knights, who have been tormented by the Buckeyes star dual-threat quarterback over their three seasons in the Big Ten.

A two-time Big Ten Quarterback of the Year selection, Barrett announced Wednesday on his personal Instagram account that he's returning to Ohio State for his fifth-year senior campaign.

The Scarlet Knights are scheduled to host Ohio State for their Big Ten home opener on Sept.
