PISCATAWAY -- It should have been music to Larry Stevens' ears, but it played out like a curse.
Stevens was only two games into his true freshman season at Rutgers when coach Chris Ash started talking about the dream that some walk-ons spend four or five years chasing.
"He's going to earn himself a scholarship if he keeps doing what he's doing," Ash said last September.
Five days later, Stevens suffered a season-ending hamstring injury against New Mexico.
"I made a name for myself, and then as things were going good I just fell in one game, one moment," Stevens said.
