No. 3 Rutgers field hockey defeated No. 8 Maryland on Friday afternoon for the first time since 1998 with a 1-0 victory. The Terps were the last Big Ten opponent that the Scarlet Knights had not yet beaten since joining the conference. The win marked a program record ninth ranked win this season and fourth over a top ten opponent. Rutgers is now 11-2 overall and 4-1 in Big Ten play. They’ve tied a program best conference wins since joining the league in 2014.
