Monday, Rutgers landed its 16th commitment of the 2017 class when three-star Cherokee (Marlton, N.J.) running back Johnathan Lovett pledged to the Scarlet Knights.

Lovett, who is being recruited primarily by running backs coach Zak Kuhr, waited patiently for an offer from Rutgers, which arrived in March.
And the Scarlet Knights have held a tentative lead ever since, despite Lovett waiting to make his decision until now.
Rutgers was the second Power 5 school to offer the 5-11, 195-pounder at the time.
