Next Man Up: Not just a cliche at Rutgers, where injuries are overcome with 'unreal' buy-in

PISCATAWAY -- Isaiah Wharton laughed at the far-fetched idea of playing quarterback again.

A three-year starter at cornerback for Rutgers, Wharton rushed for 892 yards as a senior in high school.

"Oh man, I don't know about that one," Wharton said. "I'm good where I'm at right now."

It's only preposterous because Giovanni Rescigno is 3-1 since taking over as Rutgers starting quarterback. Otherwise, a defensive player jumping over five quarterbacks on the depth chart might fall right in line with the theme of a scrappy overachieving team.
