PISCATAWAY -- Giovanni Rescigno might soon need to start celebrating Illinois game week like a birthday or a holiday.
One year after he came out of nowhere to seize Rutgers starting quarterback job with a good week of scout-team practice in preparation of facing Illinois, Rescigno is at least back in the conversation for the first time since losing a training camp battle to graduate transfer Kyle Bolin.
In betting terms, Rescigno still is the third-most likely quarterback to start Oct. 14 against Illinois, but coach Chris Ash left the door open to re-evaluate all personnel during this week's bye.
