Mike Dare, former Rutgers QB, commits to new school after JUCO jackpot

Junior college was never in the cards for Mike Dare but turned out to be his ace in the hole.

The former Rutgers quarterback told NJ Advance Media that he committed Tuesday to Sam Houston State, one of the four teams still alive in the FCS (formerly Division I-AA) playoffs.

Dare, who spent the 2017 season at Lackawanna College, will enroll in January and have two years of eligibility remaining, beginning immediately as he will compete to replace starter Jeremiah Briscoe after the season.

"I wasn't thrilled about JUCO, but looking back at it I think it was the best decision I ever made in my college career," Dare said.
