Janarion Grant joined an elite list of Rutgers football alums Monday.
Grant was named to the preseason watch list for the Maxwell Award, which has been given to college football's player of the year since 1937. It is different the Heisman Trophy -- college football's most outstanding player -- and doesn't always overlap winners.
Other Rutgers stars to be recognized by the Maxwell Club over the last decade include Ray Rice, Kenny Britt, Tiquan Underwood, Tom Savage, Mohamed Sanu, Jawan Jamison and Leonte Carroo. All of those players later became NFL Draft picks.
