Kyle Flood reacts to push from Big Ten commisioner Jim Delany to consider sitting freshmen

PISCATAWAY – Eight is Enough for a 1970s sitcom, but 85 scholarships might not be enough in college football.

As Big Ten commissioner Jim Delany continues to be the leading proponent of the concept of making true freshmen ineligible in college football and men’s basketball in order to restore an emphasis on academics, Rutgers coach Kyle Flood joined the camp of those who think more scholarships need to be added for the plan to work.

“My initial thought on it is it would be hard with 85. I think that would be tough,” said Flood, who played three true freshmen in 2012, nine in 2013 and four in 2014.
