As the Rutgers men's basketball team took a big step forward in coach Steve Pikiell's first season, forward Jonathan Laurent went in the other direction.
The once-promising freshman is transferring on the heels of a disappointing sophomore season, according to multiple reports. He will have two years of eligibility remaining after taking a redshirt.
Laurent averaged 3 points on 42.5 percent shooting from the field and 2.5 rebounds over the course of 31 games, including 11 starts. His minutes waned as the season progressed and Rutgers went from a seven-win team to a 15-win team.
