NEW BRUNSWICK Recent controversies at Rutgers have not shaken Big Ten commissioner Jim Delany’s faith in the leadership at the conference’s second-year member school.
Considered one of the most powerful leaders in college athletics, Delany spoke to a select group of reporters Friday night before watching the Rutgers women’s volleyball game. He is in town to watch the Rutgers football team face No. 4 Michigan State at 8 p.m. Saturday night.
“If they wanted my opinion, I would give it to them,” Delany said when asked if he is advising Rutgers in its time of turmoil. “They haven’t asked for my opinion.
