PISCATAWAY -- There is no tackling the quarterback during a Rutgers football practice.
There is no pressure -- other than the artificial kind generated by a simulated game clock.
There is very little improvising on a play call.
In other words, many of the intangibles that make Giovanni Rescigno stand out on gamedays are not afforded the same opportunity to show up within the confines of practice.
Maybe that explains the unexplainable: Why Rescigno lost quarterback battles during each of the last two training camps only to take over near midseason and make fans wonder why he wasn't starting all along.
