The decision to stay home was easy for Johnathan Lewis.
The former St. Peter's Prep star quarterback could have went elsewhere, but he chose to stay in state to continue his football career.
Why?
"I want to put on for my home state," he said Sunday at Rutgers' Media Day.
Now the question is when Lewis will get that opportunity.
Currently locked in a three-way competition for the starting spot with incumbent starter Gio Rescigno and Louisville transfer Kyle Bolin, Lewis -- though the youngest of the group by far -- may have the most potential of the bunch.
